KALAMAZOO, Mich. (July 1, 2010) – Jenna Carosio scored the first of three second-half Chicago goals as the Red Eleven knocked off the Kalamazoo Outrage, 3-0, Wednesday evening at Loy Norrix High School.
CRE (6-1-2) swept the regular-season series with the Outrage (2-4-1), outscoring Kalamazoo 10-0 in three games. Chicago also pulled ahead of Buffalo in the Midwest Division standings, retaking first place with 20 points.
After a scoreless first half, the Red Eleven turned up the intensity in the second half. It outshot the home team, 9-0, in the frame. All nine shots were on goal, as Chicago tallied three goals and forced Grace Labrecque to make six saves.
Carosio opened the scoring with a goal in the 69th minute unassisted. Just two minutes later, Rachael Sloan picked up her second goal of the season to make it 2-0.
Lindsey Page made it 3-0 in the 85th minute with her second goal of the season against Kalamazoo. She scored the game’s lone goal the last time these two teams met, June 20 in Lisle, Ill.
The Red Eleven finished the game with an 11-1 shot advantage and 6-0 edge in corner kicks.
Alexa Gaul got the start in goal for Chicago. She made one save for her second shutout in as many starts for CRE this season. Labrecque finished with eight saves in the match.
Chicago continues its road trip at London Saturday, taking on the Gryphons at 7 p.m.
